A T the close of another volume, the Editor : 11 returns his moft grateful thanks to the Public, for the kind patronage bestowed on his work.
How far the promise, made at its commencement, has been fulfilled, it would be presumption in him to say--This the Public must determine. • Justice however obliges him to acknowledge maay imperfections, arising from unexpected circumstances, which, he hopes, will not again occur. And, from the promises of his Correfpondents, and his own affiduity, he thinks he may venture to affert, that the future Numbers of the Phænix will be rendered worthy of the Patronage of the Public; and the continuation of their favours be remembered with gratitude.
His fole endeavour shall be to contribute to the entertainment of his Readers--his only with to merit their approbation.
