Deut. xxviii, 36, 64. The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone. And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods,

which neither thou nor thy fathers bave known, even wood and stone.

And they ched unto the children of Dan: and they turned their faces, and said unto Micah. What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company? And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away; and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?

1 Sam. v, 7. And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.

1 Kings xii, 26-28.
