Now, Lord thy feeble worm prepare,
For strife which earth and hell begins;
Confirm and gird me for the war,—
They hate the soul that hates his sins.
I have chosen thee in the furnace
Isa. xlviii. 10.

17th.

of affliction.

We'll trace the footsteps thou hast drawn
To triumph and renown;

Nor shun thy combat and thy cross,
For we shall share thy crown.

18th.-Cast thy burden upon the Lord,. and he shall sustain thee.

Now Lord, my weary soul release,
Upraise me by thy gracious hand;
And guide me into perfect peace,

Call back a wand'ring sheep;

False to thee, like Peter, I

Would fain like Peter weep.

20th. O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself, but in me is thy help. Hos. xiii. Prov. vi. 32.

O! to grace how great a debtor,
Daily I'm constrain'd to be,

Let that grace now like a fetter,
Bind my wand'ring heart to thee!

21st. I will betroth thee unto me for

ever.

Glorious things of thee are spoken,
Zion, city of our God!

He whose word cannot be broken

Form'd thee for his own abode.

22d. He that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. Zech. ii. 8. Deut. xxxii. 10. Ps. xvii. 8.

Lord, it is my chief complaint
That my love is weak and faint;
Yet I love thee and adore,

O for grace to love thee more!

23rd. My presence shall go with thee. Exod. xxxiii. 14. Isa lxiii. 9.

Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but thou art mighty, Hold me with thy powerful hand. 24th. Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee. Isa. xliii. 4.

We are a garden wall'd around,
Chosen and made peculiar ground;
A little spot inclosed by grace

Out of this world's wild wilderness. 25th.-Behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest. Gen. xxviii. 15, 20, 21.

Let thy love my heart constrain,

My restless passions sway;

Keep me, lest I turn again,

Out of the narrow way.

26th. The God of heaven, he will prosper us. Neh. ii. 20.

Awake, O heavenly wind and come,
Blow on this garden of perfume;
Spirit divine, descend and breathe,
A gracious gale on plants beneath.

27th. I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Rev. ii. 4.

Recall to mind the happy days

When thou wast fill'd with joy and praise:
Repent, thy former works renew,

Then I'll restore thy comforts too.

28th. All power is given to me in heaven and in earth.

Jesus, therefore let us own;

Jesus we'll exalt alone;

Jesus has our sins forgiven,

Jesus is our bliss, our heaven!

Tell of his wondrous faithfulness,
And sound his praise abroad;

Sing the sweet promise of his grace,

30th-The angels are ministering spirits, sent forth to minister to them who shall be

heirs of salvation.

1st.-Hinder me not.-Gen. xxiv. 56.

'Twas thus I cry'd when Christ the Lord

My soul to him did wed;

Hinder me not, nor friends nor foes,
Since God my way hath sped.

2d. Seeing the Lord hath prospered Gen. xxiv. 56.

In all my Lord's appointed ways
My journey I'll pursue,

Hinder me not ye much-lov'd saints,
For I must go with you.

3rd.-Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. Acts xvi. 31.

Salvation in that name is found,
Balm of my grief and care;

A medicine for my every wound,

All, all I want is there!

4th. He forgetteth not the cry of the humble. Ps. ix. 12. Gen. ix. 5.

Though distresses now attend thee,
And thou tread'st the thorny road,
His right hand shall still defend thee,
Soon he'll bring thee home to God.

5th. O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours. Isa. liv. 11. 1 Chron. xxix. 2, Rev. xxi. 18.

Thy walls are strength, and at thy gates
A guard of heavenly warriors waits:
Nor shall thy deep foundations move,
Fix'd on his counsels and his love.

6th.-Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Eph. v. 14. Isa. lx. 1. Rom. xiii. 11, 12. 1 Cor. xv. 34.

Awake my soul, nor slumbering lie,
Amid the gloomy haunts of death,
Perhaps the destin'd hour is nigh
Commission'd for thy parting breath.

7th.-Arise, and shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen Isa. lx. 1. Matt. iv. 2. upon thee.

Awake, ye saints, and raise your eyes,
And raise your voices high;
Awake, and praise that sov'reign love
That shows salvation nigh!

8th.-Thy people also shall be all righ-
Isa. lx. 21. li. 1.

teous.

Jesus, thy blood, thy righteousness,
My beauty, and my glorious dress,
'Midst flaming worlds in these array'd,
I shall with joy lift up mine head.

9th.-Come, let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us. Hos. vi. 1. Deut. xxxii. 39.

Let us never, Lord, forget thee,
Make us walk as pilgrims here;

We will give thee all the glory

Of that Love that brought us near.

10th.-I will turn mine hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take all thy tin. Isa. i. 25. Jer. ix. 11.
