Ce Dictionnaire, publié par ordre de la compagnie des Indes, devait comprendre tous les caractères qui se trouvent dans le grand Dictionnaire chinois, publié en 1716, en 32 vols. par ordre de Kang-He, empereur de la Chine. On y avait ajouté un Essai sur les caractères majuscules et sur ceux de l'écriture courante, et des exemples de leur emploi et des phrases les plus usitées; mais ce plan n'a pas été exactement suivi. Toutefois l'ouvrage a paru dans l'ordre suivant:
