neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your though.s. (Chap. Iv. 7, 8, 9.) And Hosea exhorts us and sai.h, Come, and let us return unto the Lord, for he hath torn, and he will heal us, he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us, in the third da、 he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Then shall we know if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. (Hosea. vi. 1, 2, 3.)

Now, you may find two very remarkable chapters in the Book of the prophet Ezekiel, (and they are the 18th, and 33rd.) Now we may see here, the justice, and mercy, and goodness of God, in reality and truth. Now I shall mention a few of those solemn words that are spoken by that God, in whom we live, and have our being. Now in those chapters, we may see the abomination of sin that God hateth; but O that we may, by his grace, repent, and behold his mercy; for God declares that he has no pleasure in the death of the wicked: but it is said, but if the wicked will turn away from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in h s righteousness that he hath done, he shall live; repent and turn from all your transgressions, so iniquity shall not be your ruin, cast away from you all your transgressions whereby ye have transgressed, and make you a new heart, and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God, wherefore turn and live ye. (22, 23, 30, 31.) Now, Israel was a beloved and a peculiar people of God by reason of Christ entering into the world, and making his appearance in the flesh, for, according to the flesh, he was of the house, and lineage of David, which was the son of Abraham. Therefore, this was the command of God unto them. Walk before me, and be thou perfect. (Gen. xvi. 1.) And for what purpose? For an example of obedience to the. orid, that thou are my people, and that the world may be saved th- h grace by Christ, my Son. But O what a sinful peooon became ! nevertheless, the Lord had great

compassion upon them, and exhorts them to repent, and sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place. (2 Chron. xxxvi. 15.) And they said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord hath given you and to your fathers for ever: and go not after other gods to serve them and to worship them, and provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, and I will do you no hurt. (Jer. xxv. 5, 6.) But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy. (2 Chron. xxxvi. 16.) And Jeremiah was grieved when he saw them in this sinful condition, and said, If ye will not hear to give glory to the Lord, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride, and mine eyes shall weep, and run down with tears, because the Lord's flock is carried away captive. (Jer. xiii. 17.) And the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah, saying, Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassions every man to his brother; and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. (Zec. vii. 8, 9, 10.) Therefore repent ye, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord (Acts iii. 19.) O kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when is wrath is kindled but a little blessed are all they who put their trust in him. (Psalm ii. 12.) Wherefore he

saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. (Eph. v. 14.) And again it is said, Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you and will be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Cor. vi. 17, 18.) O, that we may taste and see how good the Lord is, and how willing he is to save us from the wrath to come, and reveals it to us by the son of his love, and shows unto us his heavenly care towards us, by our temporal concerns. Hear therefore, the gracious words of our blessed Lord, The Son of man is come to save that which was lost. How think ye? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and

nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep than of the ninety and nine, which went not astray. Even so, it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. (Matt. xviii.) And again hear the sweet words of the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light. (Matt. xi. 28, 29, 30.) And in the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the spirit, which they that believe on him should receive. (John vii. 37, 38, 39.) Therefore, O Lord

It is thy grace that revives our souls,
And makes us believe in thee;

O, give thy grace to every soul,
O, give thy grace to me,

That I may in thy works then show
Thy willingness to save;
O, send thy spirit down, O Lord,
Let nothing more me crave.

O, when thy grace is given, Lord,
I know its right within,
My fears, and sins they fly away;
O, death, thou hast lost thy sting.

My soul is sweet, to thee, O Lord,
And so art thou to me;
Grace makes me leave my sins below,
And long to be with thee.

To see thy heavenly face above,

And Angels fair and bright;

Then let me leave my sins below,
And take a fresh delight.

For there is no respect of persons with God. (Rom. ii. 11.) For there is no difference between the Jew and the

Greek, for the same Lord, over all, is rich unto all that call upon him, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Rom. x. 12, 13.) And if ye call on the Father, who, without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold, but by the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. Who verily was fore-ordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you. (1 Peter i. 17.) Surely then the Lord is good to all, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter iii. 9.) And hear ye, the blessed promises of Almighty God. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (Isaiah i. 18.) For if we repent, the Lord will not cast us off for ever, for his loving-kindness faileth not, and his compassions are new every morning. And it plainly appears by Holy Scripture, that there is no respect of persons with God, for behold the Revelation to John, the Divine. After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude which no man could number, of all na tions and kindreds and people and tongues, stood before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. (Rev. vii. 9.) I, Jesus, have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst, come: and whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (Rev. xxii. 16, 17.) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only -begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. (John iii. 16, 17.) He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Mark xvi. 16.) Take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but teach them thy sons, and thy sons sons. (Deut. iv. 9.)

O, that the Lord may be pleased to help us aii to come before him in a humble spirit confessing our sins. And that it may please Almighty God to give us grace to repent, and that thou may show us mercy through the Son of thy love. O, that we may rejoice to see this thy holy exhortation, and that we may embrace it, and learn, and love thy will, O Lord, and at last be admitted into thy rest above, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
