Story 7. How Robin Hood did Aid the Sorrowful Knight,

Sir Richard o' the Lea

Robin Hood and Little John search for a guest to dine with them, and Robin meeteth the knight of the rueful countenance and doth help him in his distress. The knight payeth his debt to the emmet and at the end of a year doth ride forth to Sherwood forest for to pay Robin Hood. How they feast together and how the knight kisseth Robin's cheek at parting.

Story 8. Of the Merry Adventure with Midge the Miller

How Robin Hood and three of his good men do sit by the roadside a'singing sweet songs. How they think to make a jest of the miller who cometh down the road with a sack of meal, but the miller turneth the joke on them and doth fill their faces with meal and dust their coats with his staff.

Robin selleth meat in the market-place at Nottingham and dineth with the sheriff. He doth take the sheriff into the forest to see his horned beasts and the sheriff dineth with the outlaws and payeth the reckoning.

Robin findeth a jolly friar feasting and singing gaily by the bank of the river. Robin and the friar take turns carrying each other across the stream and the friar doth give Robin a ducking. They fight a fierce battle with swords and Friar Tuck goeth to Sherwood with Robin and his men.

Story II. Of the Marriage of Allan a Dale

How Will Scarlet and Will Stutely find a youth sorrowing beneath a willow tree and how Robin doth robe himself as a harper and with a score of his men go to the little church in the dell. Robin stoppeth the marriage of a fair maid with an old knight and giveth the maid to her true love.
