LVIII. Not serving God. Threats. Deut. xxviii. 47. Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things,
Ver. 48. Therefore shall thou serve thine enemies, in hunger and thirst, and nakedness and want of all things. Jer. xvii. I to 5. Neh. ix. 35, 36.
Mal. iii. 14. Ye have said, it is vain to serve God : and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinances?
Ver. 18. Ye shall discern between him that serveth God, and him that serveth him not. Job xxi. 15.
Matt. xxiv. 40. The Lord of the wicked servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour, when he is not a ware.
Ver. 41. And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion, with hypocrites, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Luke xii. 47. That servant which knew his Lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

LIX. Commanded. Eccl. xii. 13. Fear. God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
Jer. vii. 23. This thing commanded I your fathers, saying, obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people. Lev. xix. 37. 1 Sam. xv. 22. Jer. xi. 4. Deut. vi. 24, 25.--vii. 12.

LX. Universal obedience required. Deut. xxviii. 14. Thou shalt not go aside, from any of the words which I commanded thee this day, to the right hand or to the left.
Jos. i. 7. Observe to do according to all the law, turn not from it to the right hand, or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
1 Chron. xxviii. 8. Keep, and seek for all the Commandments of the Lord your God.

LXIII. Ability for obedience promised. Deut. xxx. 6. The Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine, heart and with all thy soul.
l'er. 8. And thou shall obey the voice of the Lord to do all his commandments.
2 Chron. xxx. 12. The hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment by the word of the Lord.
Ps. cx. 3. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.
Isa. ii. 3. He will teach us of his ways, and we shall walk in his paths. Mic. iv, 2.
Ezek. xi. 19. I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spi. rit within them, and I will take the stony heart out of their flesb, and I will give them an heart of flesh.

LXV. Ability from God acknowledged. I Cor. xv. 10. Paul said, by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace which was bestowed on me was not in vain : I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
2 Cor. ii. 5. Our sufficiency is of God. Ch. xii. 10. Joel iii. 10. Isa. xxxv. 4.
Phil. iv. 13. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Eph. vi. 10. Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

LXVII. Promises to the obrdient. Exod. xix. 5. If re will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then shall ye be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people, for all the earth is mine.
Exod. xx. 6. I am the Lord, shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Deut. v. 10.-yü. 9. Neh. i. 5. Jer. xxxii. 18. Dan. ix. 4.

xxvi. 3. If ye will walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments and do them,

Deut. iv. 1. Hearken, O Israel, to the statues and judgments which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land.
Ver. 6. Keep and do them, for this is your wisdom and undera standing in the sight of the nations. Ver. 7, 8, 30.
Ver. 40. Thou shalt keep his statutes, that it way go well with thee, and with thy chiidren after thee. Ch. vi. 1, 2, 17, 18, 25.-xii. 28.

Ver. 17. That the Lord may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and bave compassion upon thee and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers.
Deut. 28. 1. If thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and do all his commandments, the Lord thy God will set thee on high, above all nations of the earth. xxix. 9. Keep the words of this covenant and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do. I Kings ii. 3, 4. Jer. xxxviii. 20.
xxx. 19. I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore chuse life that both thou and thy seed may live. Ver. 16.
Ver. 20. That thou may st love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him, (for he is thy life and the length of thy days.) Ch.v. 1, 10.-viii. 2, 6, 11, 20. -xii. 1, 25.--XXX. 8 to 16, 1 Sam. xij. 14. 2 Kings iii. 14. Prov. iii. 2.
