The printed general title is dated 1836, and gives the names of the publishers as Allan Bell & Co. and Shepherd & Sutton: London, and Fraser & Co.: Edinburgh; the name of the printer appears on verso. But the engraved general and N. T. titles are dated 1840, and bear only the name of Andrew Moffat: London. Pp. 1084, 336 (?). With Preface, introductions to each book, and foot-notes. The two frontispieces, together with the engraved titles, were evidently added by Moffat in republishing this Bible in 1840.

Slightly imperfect: wanting one or two leaves at the end.

Reference is made to the original versions of Wynne, Newcome, Wakefield, Boothroyd, Penn, Campbell, Stuart, and Macknight. The author, who had edited the London edition of Griesbach's text published in 1818, died before the present work appeared. Cotton (p. 127) gives his name as Edgar Taylor.

The Wiclif' follows a MS. representing the later Wycliffite version, which belonged to the Duke of Sussex, and subsequently to the Earl of Ashburnham. The Tyndale' is a reprint of the edition of 1534 (No. 5). The Cranmer' is the first edition of the Great Bible, 1539 (No. 25). The 'Genevan' is Whittingham's Testament of 1557 (No. 76). The AngloRhemish' is taken from the first edition of 1582 (No. 134). The Authorised' is apparently printed from a copy of the edition of 1613,11 (No. 246).

The long Historical Account' (160 pp.) was written by S. P. Tregelles (see No. 1171, 1844). Preliminary matter, 167 pp. The English Hexapla ends on 7 H 4 a. The Greek text is printed at the top of each page, with the English versions beneath in six columns, spread over two pages.
