MACHINE MAKERS, &c. MANUFACTURERS OF SELF-ACTING & HAND MULES, BILLIES, PIECING MACHINES, CONDENSERS AND OTHER DESCRIPTIONS OF MACHINERY.

TO WOOLLEN MANUFACTURERS AND YARN SPINNERS.

MARSDEN & BLAMIRES' PATENT FEEDING MACHINES

FOR CONDENSERS AND CARDERS.

No. 1.-Adapted for delicate mixtures and short material.

Guaranteed to do all kinds of work in the best possible manner, for producing both even and strong yarns, (and consequently superior cloth). Can be placed in very little room.

No. 2.-Is a very great improvement upon the Scotch Feed, &c. It may feed with two or three bobbins, renders scribbler and carder at liberty to stop and start, independent of each other. It only takes four feet of room in front of scribbler doffer for any width of engine. No. 3.-Is designed to work material in imitation (as nearly as possible) of worsted yarn, and only takes three feet six inches of room fronting the scribbler doffer, thus taking up the least room of any bobbin feed known.

Applications to view them at work to be made either to Messrs, T. and H. BLAMIRES, Phoenix Mills, Leeds Road; or to Mr. H. MARSDEN, Providence Mill, Rashcliffe, Huddersfield, to whom all letters must be addressed.

Also a PATENT IMPROVEMENT for WADDING and FELTED FABRICS And CARPET and CLOTH MAKING, &c.

TO WOOLLEN MANUFACTURERS AND MACHINE MAKERS.

BLAMIRES' PATENT RUBBING MOTION,

FOR CONDENSERS AND PIECING MACHINES,

Which is superior to anything yet produced for making a more solid Thread and a stronger Yarn with less twist; and also prevents the tying of threads of long staples with single rubber condensers. It puts one-third more length on the bobbins, and effects a great saving of time and waste, both in mules and condensers. Old Machines can be easily altered. Can be seen at work by applying to T. and H. BLAMIRES, Phoenix Mills, Huddersfield *P.S.-We could not "exhibit" in consequence of all the space having been allotted

THE SALTAIRE FESTIVAL, SEPT. 20, 1873.—(AT CROW NEST, LIGHTCLIFFE.) Thus "all went on merry as a marriage bell" until two o'clock, when there was a general move towards the large marquee, where dinner was to be served. This marquee, which, as well as the others on the ground, had been provided and erected by Messrs. STONE & Co., of Leeds, was of enormous dimensions, as it was necessarily compelled to be to provide accommodation for 4,300 people to sit down to dinner at once. It was arranged in the form of a T, as the Saltaire Works are, that portion representing the top of the T being 112 yards long and 16 yards wide, whilst that representing the perpendicular stroke was of the same length and width. This gigantic marquee covered an area of over 4,200 superficial yards. The tables were 1,188 yards long, and the seating double that length, being 2,376 yards, or nearly a mile and a half. Everything was on a large scale, and perhaps never did so many people sit down to dine together under one roof before. Outside there were two other large marquees, one for preparing tea and provisions, being 25 yards long by 12 yards wide, whilst another larger one was for the special use of the committee. Along the side of the park wall were a number of extemporised fireplaces, on which thousands of gallons of water were boiled for the purpose of brewing the tea. There was a whole brigade of tea urns, and crockery sufficient to supply the wants of a small town.-Abridged from the Halifax Guardian, Sept. 27th, 1873.
