NOTICE.

THE present Catalogue of Books now offered for sale comprises a large portion of the stock of rare and valuable books collected, during several years past, by Mr. CHARLES B. NORTON. The collection embraces the most rare books of Early Voyages to America, Miscellaneous Travels, State and Local Histories, Biography and Miscellaneous Writings of Distinguished Men of the Last Century; Historical, Political, and Statistical Books, and Topographical Works and Public Documents of the United States; a very rare and valuable collection of American Tracts and Pamphlets, and a fine collection of early and scarce American Maps, both local and general. It may with propriety be stated here that this is the largest and most valuable collection of books, relating to the Early Settlement and History of America, ever offered at private sale in this country.

In addition to the books named in the Catalogue, the stock embraces a fine collection of the works of DE BRY and many valuable Miscellaneous Books and Periodicals, among which are the London Monthly Review, from 1749 to 1815, substantially bound and in good condition; the London Quarterly Review, The Athenæum, Transactions of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the United Service Gazette, North-American Review, odd volumes of scarce books, numerous Engravings, etc., etc. The whole are now offered to the public at prices reduced, in many instances, fifty per cent below those at which they were formerly held.
