EscH, Heinrich-A complete exposition of the prophecy of Habakuk; in which there is given a sketch of the kingdom of Christ during the seven times of the New Testament, compared with the Revelation of St. John. (Ger.) Wesel, 1714, 4to. ESDRAS, supposed to be a Jew of the second or third century-The second book of Esdras contains prophecies affecting to be the work of the Holy Spirit; but classed among the apocryphal writings. It is curious, as shewing what were the sentiments entertained at that remote period on the subjects interwoven therein. Some modern writers on prophecy have laid great emphasis on it; and the late Rev. E. Irving has contended for its inspiration.

A Dissertation and exposition of the above is mentioned by Dr. Lee to have been published about the time of Jas. I. under the title"A prophecy that hath lain hid above 2000 years.' Essays on select parts of the pro
