considerate of his fellow-man; and his friendship was not only sincere, but partook of affection and brotherly love. Truly did he believe:

"For 'tis the bliss of friendship's holy state
To mix their minds, and to communicate;
Though bodies cannot, souls can penetrate."

He was a man with a strong intellect; untiring application and a deep love for his profession. He maintained with dignity, courage and ability the cause of his client, but was always fair and courteous to his opponent, and commanded the respect and esteem of Court and Counsel.

Standing upon the threshold of middle life; in full possession of mental and physical activity; rising rapidly in the prosecution of his chosen profession; deeply interested in his work; surrounded by many loved ones, with a bright and happy future before him, his death came suddenly. Seized with pneumonia, he was taken off in a few days. Fully realizing that his end was near he feared not the future, for his faith was strong, and calmly and serenely he watched the twilight gather and answered his Maker's summons.

She who was his devoted and faithful helpmeet, and their affectionate and dutiful children will ever hold blessed his memory, while those who knew him closest will always call him friend.
