naturally be expected to be given to such matters by a State Bar Association. In the opinion of your Committee, this is to be regretted, because such discussions should prove instructive, and not until it is known that the Association does discuss and consider such matters may it be expected that its recommendations as to the passage of new laws will be given any considerable weight by the Legislature. In this connection we call attention to the reports of the Committee on Medical Expert Testimony and that on Amendment of Practise presented at former meetings and which come up at this meeting.

6. Since our last annual meeting we have lost by death eight members, and it seems proper that we should here recall the names and date of their decease: Judge John E. Mason, December 5, 1910; Hon. W. E. Bibb, December 10, 1910; R. H. Baker, February 1, 1911; Maj. Micajah Woods, March 14, 1911; H. St. John Coalter, March 25, 1911; Judge William M. Atkinson, April 3, 1911; W. W. Old, July 19, 1911 and Charles M. White, July 21, 1911. Your Committee has been informed that memorial papers will be prepared by Judge R. T. W. Duke, Jr., of Charlottesville, and Mr. John B. Jenkins, of Norfolk, as to Maj. Woods and Mr. Old, and assumes that special papers will be prepared in memory of the others.

7. We call attention to the fact that the State Board of Law Examiners have amended their Rules so as to include in the subjects for examination the Code of Legal Ethics as adopted by this Association. This new Rule has been approved by the Supreme Court of Appeals and is as follows:

"10. All applicants will be liable to be examined on the following subjects, viz.: Real and Personal Property, Domestic Relations, Contracts, Agency, Partnership, Negotiable Instruments, Insurance, Corporations, Wills and Personal Representatives, Torts, Equity Jurisprudence, Pleading and Practice at Law and in Equity, Evidence, Crimes and Criminal Procedure, Powers and Duties of the Corporation Commission, Code of Virginia, Constitutional Law, and the Code of Legal Ethics as adopted by the Virginia State Bar Association."

8. The terms of George C. Gregory and Hill Montague, the two Richmond members of the Executive Committee, will expire at this meeting, and their successors should be elected.

Respectfully submitted,

HILL MONTAGUE, Chairman.
GEO. C. GREGORY,

GEO. A. FRICK,

A. R. LONG.
