Specimens of the Table Talk of Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Front Cover
John Murray, 1836 - 326 pages
Toward the end of his life, Coleridge spent his days living in the Highgate home of his friend and physician James Gillman. Many great minds of the early 19th century--from Thomas Carlyle to Ralph Waldo Emerson--visited him in his seclusion. Coleridge spent 18 years with the Gillmans, who eventually constructed an addition onto their home for Coleridge's private use. This book reproduces some of the metaphysical and literary conversations Coleridge had with his guests.
