For a young lady, a black crape dress, that we observed, with corsage à l'enfant, and sleeves with bouffan above, and a l'Amadis to the wrist was very becoming. A white crape collerette was terminated by a gold necklace, enamelled in black. Baudeaux à la ferronière, with the hair brought behind and platted with an intermixture of blue twisted silk, completed the toilet.

HATS, &c. In the shape of hats there is a great variety. The predominant disposition of these may, however, be cited as lower in the crown, and the front more elevated than before, though at the same time not thrown forward so much; half veils, of rose-coloured satin or blond, are frequent.

Green velvet hats, with similarly coloured feathers, look well.

On satin hats, dark coloured flowers, with black foliage, may occasionally be seen.

Hats are now worn not so far back on the head. Oriental blue is a favorite colour for hats with many ladies of the first taste, and with these are commonly worn a beautiful drooping feather, tinged with black,

MATERIALS AND COLOURS.-Satin de laine is now in very great vogue.

Plain poplin, for negligé dresses, is very much approved of.

VARIETIES.—Mantillas of a novel description of stuff called blonde de laine.

For bracelets a plain gold band is worn; this is frequently ornamented with a medallion, enclosing a lock of hair, a cameo, a precious stone, or enamelling surrounded by pearls are not unfrequently seen,

The golden tiaras so much in use for the hair, are now usually ornamented with precious stones in front.

Collars are now worn very large; muslin collars are trimmed with mechlin lace, batiste, valenciennes or English point.

Aprons are very commonly made of Scotch pou de

soie.

Bijouterie is again very much worn: to the ceinture is attached a gold chain, from which hang a pair of scizzars with gold handles, and a golden acorn which is made to contain the favorite jewels or other small articles which may please the fancy of the wearer: from the necklace, also or Berlin manufacture or of chased gold, hangs a little gold chain, which carries a chased gold heart, sometimes ornamented with emeralds, brilliants saphires or rubies.

The cashmere tartan shawls seem to be very great favorites, and they are now made in such great variety, and are so extremely suitable for the season, that it may be anticipated they will continue in favor for some time.
