About the author (2019)

Rahel Joseph is the Gallery Director of ILHAM, and has over 18 years’ experience working in arts and culture. She was formerly at Galeri Petronas where she managed the exhibitions and public programmes and was also Director of Cultural Affairs at the Australian High Commission for seven years. She is co-editor of Hati & Jiwa: the Zain Azahari Collection (2019) and Narratives of Malaysian Art Vol 3 (2016). She was co-curator of Love Me in My Batik exhibition at ILHAM in February 2016.

Jo Kukathas is a writer, director and actress. She co-founded the Instant Café Theatre in 1989 and is currently Artistic Director there. Known for her satirical work and her character acting, she has also directed several acclaimed productions; including Nadirah in November 2012. In 2009, she founded CHAI, Instant Cafe Theatré House of Arts and Ideas, a space for artists to meet and work together.
