2 Loose all your bars of massy light,
And wide unfold the' ethereal scene;
He claims these mansions as his right;
Receive the King of glory in!

Who is the King of glory? Who?
The Lord, that all our foes o'ercame ;-
The world, sin, death, and hell o'erthrew ;-
And Jesus is the Conqu'ror's name.
3 Lo! his triumphal chariot waits,
And angels chant the solemn lay;
Lift up your heads, ye heavenly gates;
Ye everlasting doors, give way!
Who is the King of glory? Who?

The Lord, of glorious power possess'd ;-
The King of saints and angels too;—
God over all, forever blest!

The voice of triumph.

IFT your glad voices in triumph on high,

L'

For Jesus hath risen, and man shall not die; Vain were the terrors that gather'd around him, And short the dominion of death and the grave; He burst from the fetters of darkness that bound him,

Resplendent in glory, to live and to save:
Loud was the chorus of angels on high,-
The Saviour hath risen, and man shall not die.
2 Glory to God, in full anthems of joy;
The being he gave us death cannot destroy:
Sal were the life we may part with to-morrow,
If tears were our birthright, and death were
our end;

But Jesus hath cheer'd the dark valley of sorrow,
And bade us, immortal, to heaven ascend:
Lift then your voices in triumph on high,
For Jesus hath risen, and man shall not die.

Ascension day.

H Ravish'd from our wishful eyes!

AIL the day that sees Him rise,

Christ, awhile to mortals given,
Reascends his native heaven.

2 There the pompous triumph waits:
Lift your heads, eternal gates;
Wide unfold the radiant scene;
Take the King of glory in.

3 Circled round with angel powers,
Their triumphant Lord and ours,
Conqu'ror over death and sin,-
Take the King of glory in.

4 Him though highest heaven receives,
Still he loves the earth he leaves;
Though returning to his throne,
Still he calls mankind his own.
5 See, he lifts his hands above!
See, he shows the prints of love!
Hark, his gracious lips bestow
Blessings on his Church below!

Glory to glory's King.

OD is gone up on high,

G With a triumphant noise,→

The clarions of the sky

Proclaim the' angelic joys:

Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory's King.
2 All power to our great Lord
Is by the Father given;

By angel hosts adored,

He reigns supreme in heaven: Join all on earth, rejoice and sing; Glory ascribe to glory's King.

3 High on his holy seat,

He bears the righteous sway;
His foes beneath his feet

Shall sink and die away:
Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory's King.

4 Till all the earth, renew'd
In righteousness divine,
With all the hosts of God,
In one great chorus join,

Join all on earth, rejoice and sing;
Glory ascribe to glory's King.

King of kings and Lord of lords.

HE head that once was crown'd with thorns,

Is crown'd with glory now;

A royal diadem adorns

The mighty Victor's brow.

2 The highest place that heaven affords,
Is to our Jesus given;

The King of kings, and Lord of lords,
He reigns o'er earth and heaven—

3 The joy of all who dwell above,
The joy of all below,

To whom he manifests his love,
And grants his Name to know.

4 To them the cross, with all its shame,
With all its grace, is given;
Their name- -an everlasting name,

Their joy-the joy of heaven.

5 They suffer with their Lord below,—
They reign with him above;

Their everlasting joy to know
The myst'ry of his love.

THE

His supreme Divinity.

L. M.

HE day of Christ, the day of God, We humbly hope with joy to see,— Wash'd in the sanctifying blood

Of an incarnate Deity—

2 Who did for us his life resign:
There is no other God but one;
For all the plenitude Divine
Resides in the eternal Son.

3 Spotless, sincere, without offence,
O may we to his day remain,
Who trust the blood of Christ to cleanse
Our souls from every sinful stain.
4 Lord, we believe the promise sure;
The purchased Comforter impart;
Apply thy blood to make us pure,-
To keep us pure in life and heart.
5 Then let us see that day supreme,
When none thy Godhead shall deny,—
Thy sov'reign majesty blaspheme,-

Or count thee less than the Most High: 6 When all who on their God believe,Who here thy last appearing love,—— Shall thy consummate joy receive, And see thy glorious face above. 160

Reigning, and interceding for sinners.
EE Jesus rising from the grave; ̈
Behold him raised on high;

He pleads his merits there, to save
Transgressors doom'd to die.

C. M.

2 There, on a glorious throne, he reigns; And, by his power divine,

Redeems us from the slavish chains
Of Satan and of sin.

9 Thus saved, may we with joy appear
In heaven before his face;
And, with the blest assembly there,
Sing his redeeming grace.

MESS

1st P. M. 6 lines 8s.

Messiah, the Saviour and the Judge. ESSIAH, joy of every heart, Thou, thou the King of glory art, The Father's everlasting Son: Thee it delights thy Church to own; For all our hopes on thee depend, Whose glorious mercies never end. 2 When thou hadst render'd up thy breath, And, dying, drawn the sting of death, Thou didst from earth triumphant rise, And ope the portals of the skies; That all who trust in thee alone, Might follow, and partake thy throne. 3 Seated at God's right hand again, Thou dost in all his glory reign; Thou dost, thy Father's image, shine In all the attributes divine;

And thou with judgment clad shalt come,
To seal our everlasting doom.

4 Wherefore we now for mercy pray;
O Saviour, take our sins away:
Before thou as our Judge appear,
In dreadful majesty severe,
Appear our Advocate with God,
And save the purchase of thy blood.
