The President: I would like to ask those who are in charge of the matter, what we are going to do about the photograph in the rain?

The Secretary: That is a matter that the photographer alone can tell about.

The Association then adjourned subject to the call of the Executive Committee.

JNO. B. MINOR,

Secretary.

Annual Report

1905

Report of the Secretary

To the Virginia State Bar Association:

During the past year I have had the proceedings of the Sixteenth Annual Meeting printed and bound in a book of 313 pages, entitled "Reports of the Virginia State Bar Association, Vol. XVII, 1904." The edition comprised one thousand volumes, which are distributed among the active and honorary members of the Association, and were also sent to each of the State Libraries and public Law Libraries in the United States; to each of the Bar Associations of the different states and to the leading law journals in the United States. In this way the work of our Association and the names of its members have been extensively advertised, as usual.

We had 448 active members on our roll after our last annual meeting; and since then, we have lost eight by death, four by resignation, making a total of twelve. We thus have, at the beginning of this, our Seventeenth Annual Meeting, 436 active members. Our total membership, including 55 honorary members, is, therefore 491, while a number of applicants are now seeking admission.

Since our last meeting, I have received the Proceedings of the Alabama State Bar Association for 1904; the American Bar Association Reports for 1904; the Constitution, By-Laws, etc., of the Cincinnati Bar Association for 1904; Colorado Bar Association Reports for 1904; Cornell University Librarian's Reports for 1903-1904; Georgia Bar Association Reports for 1904; Indiana State Bar Association Reports for 1904; Iowa State Bar Association Reports for 1904; Kentucky State Bar Association Reports for 1904; Louisiana Bar Association Reports for 1905; Maine State Bar Association Reports for 1905; Maryland State Bar Association Reports for 1903; Missouri Bar Association Reports for 1904; New York City Bar Association Reports for 1905; New Mexico Bar Association Reports for 1904; Oregon State Bar Association Reports for 19001903; Pennsylvania State Bar Association Reports for 1904; Reports of the Bar Association of Tennessee for 1904; Texas State Bar Association Reports for 1904, and Washington State Bar Association Reports for 1904, also New York State Bar Association Reports for 1905.

In conclusion, it may be stated with confidence, that the influence of this Association is not only being maintained within the Commonwealth, but is also felt among similar associations throughout the United States. Respectfully submitted,

EUGENE C. MASSIE.
