2 The universal King Let all the world proclaim; Let every creature sing
His attributes and name: Him three in one, and one in three, Exto. to all eternity.
3 In His great Name alone All excellences meet,
Who sits upon the throne, And shall forever sit:
Him three in one, and one in three, Extol to all eternity.
4 Glory to God belongs; Glory to God be given, Above the noblest songs, Of all in earth and heaven : Him three in one, and one in three, Extol to all eternity.
11th P. M. 76, 76, 77, 76.
The Triune God of truth and grace. EET and right it is to sing, In every time and place, Glory to our heavenly King,
The God of truth and grace: Join we then with sweet accord, All in one thanksgiving join; Holy, holy, holy Lord, Eternal praise be thine.
2 Thee the first-born sons of light, In choral symphonies, Praise by day, day without night, And never, never cease; Angels, and archangels, all Praise the mystic Three in One; Sing, and stop, and gaze, and fall O'erwhelm'd before thy throne.
3 Vying with that heavenly choir, Who chant thy praise above, We on eagles' wings aspire, — The wings of faith and love; Thee they sing, with glory crown'd; We extol the slaughter'd Lamb; Lower if our voices sound,
Our subject is the same.
4 Father, God, thy love we praise, Which gave thy Son to die; Jesus, full of truth and grace, Alike we glorify; Spirit, Comforter divine,
Praise by all to thee be given, Till we in full chorus join,
And earth is turn'd to heaven.
The Triune God glorified.
GLORY to the almighty Father,
Fountain of eternal love, Who, his wand'ring sheep to gather, Sent a Saviour from above.
2 To the Son all praise be given, Who, with love unknown before, Left the bright abode of heaven, And our sin and sorrows bore. 3 Equal strains of warm devotion Let the Spirit's praise employ; Author of each pure emotion;
Source of wisdom, peace, and joy. 4 Thus, while our glad hearts, ascending, Glorify Jehovah's Name,
Heavenly songs with ours are blending; There the theme is still the same.
3d P. M. 4 6s & 2 Ss.
Longing for the house of God. ORD of the worlds above, How pleasant and how fair
The dwellings of thy love,
Thine earthly temples, are; To thine abode my heart aspires, With warm desires to see my God. 2 O happy souls that pray Where God appoints to hear! O happy men that pay
Their constant service there! They praise thee still; and happy they That love the way to Zion's hill.
3 They go from strength to strength, Through this dark vale of tears, Till each arrives at length,
Till each in heaven appears: O glorious seat! thou, God our King, Shalt thither bring our willing feet.
4 The Lord his people loves; His hand no good withholds From those his heart approves, From humble, contrite souls: Thrice happy he, O God of hosts, Whose spirit trusts alone in thee!
Invocation of and praise to the Trinity. thou Almighty King,
Help us thy Name to sing, Help us to praise :
Father all-glorious, O'er all victorious,
Come, and reign over us, Ancient of days.
2 Jesus, our Lord, arise, Scatter our enemies,
And make them fall;
Let thine almighty aid Our sure defence be made; Our souls on thee be stay'd;
Lord, hear our call.
3 Come, thou incarnate Word, Gird on thy mighty sword, Our prayer attend; Come, and thy people bless, And give thy word success: Spirit of holiness,
On us descend.
4 Come, holy Comforter, Thy sacred witness bear In this glad hour: Thou who Almighty art, Now rule in every heart, And ne'er from us depart, Spirit of power.
5 To the great One and Three Eternal praises be
Hence, evermore.
His sov'reign majesty
May we in glory see, And to eternity
Love and adore.
REAT God, attend, while Zion sings The joy that from thy presence springs;
To spend one day with thee on earth Exceeds a thousand days of mirth.
2 Might I enjoy the meanest place Within thy house, O God of grace, Not tents of ease, or thrones of power, Should tempt my feet to leave thy door.
3 God is our sun, he makes our day; God is our shield, he guards our way From all assaults of hell and sin, From foes without, and foes within.
4 All needful grace will God bestow, And crown that grace with glory too; He gives us all things, and withholds No real good from upright souls.
5 O God our King, whose sov'reign sway The glorious hosts of heaven obey, And devils at thy presence flee, Blest is the man that trusts in thee.
TERNAL Power, whose high abode Becomes the grandeur of a God: Infinite lengths, beyond the bounds Where stars revolve their little rounds:
2 Thee while the first archangel sings, He hides his face behind his wings: And ranks of shining thrones around Fall worshipping, and spread the ground.
3 Lord, what shall earth and ashes do? We would adore our Maker too; From sin and dust to thee we cry, The Great, the Holy, and the High.
4 Earth, from afar, hath heard thy fame, And worms have learn'd to lisp thy name: But O! the glories of thy mind Leave all our soaring thoughts behind.
