3d P. M. 4 6s & 2 8s. Praises to our Prophet, Priest, and K’ing.
Joof wisdom, Love
That ever mortals knew,
Or angels ever bore:
Our tongues shall bless thy Name;
Of our salvation came,-
Has shed his blood and died;
No sacrifice beside :
Our Conqueror and King,
Thy reigning grace, we sing :
9th P. M. 87, 87, 87, 87.
Our Paschal Lamb.
Hail, thou Galilean King!
Thou didst free salvation bring. Hail, thou agonizing Saviour,
Bearer of our sin and shame! By thy merits we find favour;
Life is given through thy name.
2 Paschal Lamb, by God appointed,
All our sins on thee were laid : By almighty love anointed,
Thou hast full atonement made. All thy people are forgiven,
Through the virtue of thy blood; Open'd is the gate of heaven;
Peace is made 'twixt man and God.
3 Jesus, hail! enthroned in glory,
There forever to abide;
Seated at thy Father's side:
There thou dost our place prepare: Ever for us interceding,
Till in glory we appear. 4 Worship, honour, power, and blessing,
Thou art worthy to receive; Loudest praises, without ceasing,
Meet it is for us to give. Help, ye bright angelic spirits ;
Bring your sweetest, noblest lays; Help to sing our Saviour's merits;
Help to chant Immanuel's praise.
Because He liveth I shall live also.
What joy the blest assurance gives !
3 He lives, and grants me daily breath;
21st P. M. 66, 84, 66, 84. Immanuel's praise.
the lofty praise
To live and reign :
Who bought us with his blood,-
Our Saviour God.
2 All honour, power, and praise,
To Jesus' Name belong ;
The sacred song:
That on the cross was slain ;
He lives to reign. 3 He lives to bless and save
The souls redeem'd by grace,
The fallen race;
A louder strain to sing,
Our Saviour King.
THE HOLY SPIRIT.
L. M. The promised Comforter. , ours The apostolic promise given; We wait the pentecostal powers,
The Holy Ghost sent down from heaven. 2 Assembled here with one accord,
Calmly we wait the promised grace, The purchase of our dying Lord;
Come, Holy Ghost, and fill the place. 3 If every one that asks may find,
If still thou dost on sinners fall, Come as a mighty rushing wind;
Great grace be now upon us all. 4 Ah ! leave us not to mourn below,
Or long for thy return to pine; Now, Lord, the Comforter bestow,
And fix in us the Guest divine. 182
L. M. The Saviour's legacy. ESUS, we on the words depend,
Spoken by thee while present here, The Father in my name shall send
The Holy Ghost, the Comforter. 2 That promise made to Adam's race,
Now, Lord, in us, we pray, fulfil; And give the Spirit of thy grace,
To teach us all thy perfect will. 3 That heavenly Teacher of mankind,
That Guide infallible, impart,To bring thy sayings to our mind,
And write them on each faithful heart.
4 He only can the words apply,
Through which we endless lito possess; And deal to each his legacy,
Our Lord's unutterable peace.
3d P. M. 4 6s & 2 Ss. Pleading the promise. THOU that hearest prayer,
Attend our humble cry;
Thy blessing from on high :
Their children when they cry;
Their children's wants supply;
We, children of thy grace;
Descend and fill the place;
Our contrite hearts inspire;
The pure celestial fire. 2 'Tis thine to soothe the sorrowing,
With guilt and fear oppress'd; 'Tis thine to bid the dying live,
And give the weary rest.
